Over 100 Killed in Militia Attack on Zamzam Camp

The Minister of Health for North Darfur State, Ibrahim Khater, announced on Saturday that over 100 people, including 9 staff members from an international relief organization, were killed during attacks by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia on the Zamzam IDP camp. The militia also renewed its assault on the camp, located south of El Fasher.

Since early Friday morning, the militia launched a large-scale ground attack on the Zamzam camp, southwest of El Fasher—the capital of North Darfur State—using all types of weaponry.

Speaking to “Sudan Tribune”, Ibrahim Khater, the Acting Minister of Health in North Darfur, said, “More than 100 people were killed on Friday and dozens injured in RSF attacks targeting Zamzam camp.”

He added that among the victims were medical staff and aid workers from Relief International operating a field hospital inside the camp—nine of whom were killed.

The state official described the situation in the camp as dire and tragic, citing systematic killings, acts of genocide using heavy weapons, and humiliation and provocation by the RSF militia.
