Currency Exchange Committee Urges Gezira Residents to Open Bank Accounts Promptly

On Tuesday, Member of the Sovereignty Council and Assistant Commander-in-Chief, Lieutenant General Engineer Ibrahim Jabir Ibrahim, chaired the High Committee for Currency Change and Replacement.
The committee urged residents of Gezira State to quickly open bank accounts to begin the currency exchange process, following the steps of other states where the exchange has already taken place.
The meeting confirmed the successful integration of most federal revenue units into the electronic collection and payment system and the initiation of linking state units to the same system.
Minister of Culture and Information and official government spokesperson, Khaled Al-Ayser, stated in a press briefing that the meeting reviewed the Emergency Oversight Committee’s report on electronic payments.
He added that the meeting also examined the Financial Intelligence Unit’s report on mechanisms for monitoring electronic transfers to ensure they are not exploited for suspicious activities or usurious practices.
