
Participants in the London Conference on Sudan, held on Tuesday, agreed on the necessity of decisive and urgent efforts to resolve the conflict.
The final statement of the London Conference emphasized that the top priority is to achieve an immediate and permanent ceasefire and bring an end to the conflict. The statement affirmed the rejection of external interventions that escalate tensions, prolong fighting, or empower the conflict.
They also stressed the need to prevent any division of Sudan.
The participants highlighted the critical importance of non-interference by external parties, rejecting any plans or declarations regarding parallel governments that threaten Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and territorial integrity, which could obstruct the Sudanese people’s aspirations for democracy.
The statement called on the relevant parties to allow and facilitate the rapid, safe, and unobstructed humanitarian access to all areas in need, through all necessary routes, in accordance with the commitments made in the Jeddah Declaration, and to comply with international humanitarian law.
The participants renewed their call for the warring parties to take tangible and immediate actions to respect international humanitarian law and alleviate the suffering of the Sudanese people. They expressed deep concern over the continuing and escalating violence against humanitarian workers from both international and local organizations, stressing the importance of accountability.
The statement reaffirmed the participants’ commitment to the importance of preventive diplomacy by international partners, regional, continental, and international bodies, taking proactive measures to prevent further escalation and promote stability in the region.
The participants emphasized the importance of coordinated efforts in the mediation processes regarding Sudan.
