The Sudan Doctors Network revealed that the RSF has detained 154 people, including 31 women and children, in extremely poor humanitarian and health conditions at one of their sites in the Salha area, south of Omdurman, after arresting them from various neighborhoods in the city.
The network gathered this information from one of the detainees, pointing out that the arrests were based on false accusations, primarily aimed at extorting families to pay ransom for their release or forcing them to flee their areas toward army-controlled zones as part of efforts to convert residential areas into military sites.
The network stated in a press release that the RSF’s actions of forcibly detaining unarmed civilians, including children and women, and restricting their freedoms, constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law, adding to a long record of abuses documented in various parts of the country.
The network strongly condemned what it described as a “policy of forced displacement,” using detainees as a means of terrorizing and killing civilians, as happened with thousands of detainees in Khartoum, Al-Jazeera, and other areas under RSF control.
The Sudan Doctors Network called for the immediate release of all detainees, holding the leadership of the RSF fully responsible for their lives and safety.
