Intensive Campaigns to Monitor Goods and Services in Damer

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization, Nile River State sector, carried out intensive inspection campaigns to review goods and services in Damer locality, in coordination with the administrative unit, health department, and economic security.

Sector Director Ahmed Sayed Ahmed Omar stated that the campaigns aim to protect consumers and the national economy by enforcing the required technical regulations and limits for any product, service, or commodity.

He affirmed the continuation of these inspection campaigns and urged consumers to always check the expiration dates of food items before purchase by reading the labels. He also emphasized the importance of intensifying the sector’s regulatory role to implement market standards and prevent fraud and deception to safeguard public health.

Meanwhile, Dr. Omar Mohamed Boloul, Director of the Quality Control and Assurance Department, explained that the campaign uncovered several violations, including storing food items alongside chemicals, expired products, soap without labeling, random display of goods, and edible oils being exposed to sunlight.

Dr. Boloul also gave a briefing to the Damer administrative unit on these negative practices and how to address them, as well as the necessary precautions to prevent their recurrence in the future.
