Sudanese Interior Minister, Lt. Gen. Khalil Pasha Sairin, revealed plans to relocate foreigners from residential neighborhoods to designated camps.
In statements following a meeting with the Khartoum State government, Sairin said there are “measures to move foreigners to specific camps and remove them from residential areas, in line with the state’s vision regarding the presence of foreigners.”
He expressed his support for close cooperation among the components of Khartoum State’s Security Committee through joint operations and the security task force to eliminate rogue individuals impersonating official security forces.
The Minister inspected the premises of the Ministry of Interior, the General Police Headquarters, the Commission for Refugees, the Customs Authority, the Civil Defense Forces, Al-Ribat University, the Police Hospital, and Kober Federal Prison.
He pledged to reactivate the prison system and return criminals to incarceration, announcing the beginning of operations from within the Ministry’s headquarters and asserting police control across all localities of Khartoum to protect government institutions and enforce security and stability.
He stated that his visit to Khartoum aims to assist the state in restoring normal life by securing the city, supporting voluntary returns, and addressing the needs of police units.
In related remarks, Khartoum State Governor Ahmed Othman Hamza said that the army’s regaining control over most areas of the state from the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has placed a major responsibility on the state government to restore essential services looted and destroyed by the RSF.
He noted that police forces have remained present in Karari locality but require significant support to implement their plan to re-establish the rule of law and expand their deployment after resuming work in most central areas.
Hamza expressed hope that the Interior Minister’s visit to Khartoum would help address issues related to the reopening of prisons to complete the justice process and hold RSF collaborators accountable, as well as offer solutions for the foreigner presence, which has become a security burden due to their concentration in residential neighborhoods.
