
In a high-level operation, the Criminal Investigations Department seized large quantities of stolen steel from a steel production plant in Khartoum State.
According to Lt. Col. Mohamed Al-Fateh, Director of the Criminal Investigations Department in Gedaref State, via the “Police Press Office,” the case details revealed field information about the activities of a criminal network that managed to steal construction materials and seize a large quantity of steel belonging to a factory in Khartoum State. Based on this, a field team led by a police major successfully executed a well-planned operation, arrested members of the network, and seized 936 pieces of steel beams of various sizes, 1,197 steel angles, 3,560 rebar rods of various sizes, and 511 sheets of metal.
Lt. Col. Al-Fateh stated that the total weight of the seized steel was 145 tons, with an estimated value of 30 trillion Sudanese pounds. Legal action has been taken under Article 174 of the Penal Code against 13 suspects involved in the case.
The Police Press Office reports that this accomplishment deals a heavy blow to theft and looting networks and affirms the effectiveness of security forces in tracking down criminals and recovering stolen property.
