The 6th Infantry Division in El Fasher announced that 33 civilians were killed and dozens injured due to artillery shelling carried out by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
In a press release, the 6th Division stated that the militia continued its systematic targeting of civilians by bombarding residential neighborhoods in El Fasher with heavy artillery on Sunday, using 120mm and 82mm cannons with a total of 300 shells.
The shelling reportedly started early in the morning and continued until 6:30 PM, resulting in the deaths of 33 civilians and injuries to dozens more, who were taken to hospitals and medical centers for treatment.
The army responded forcefully, pushing the militia to retreat and halt the bombardment, affirming that El Fasher remains unyielding.
The division also mentioned that, in a special operation, the valiant armed forces raided a residential building in the southeastern sector, uncovering boxes of weapons and ammunition and capturing four militia members.
The captured individuals provided critical intelligence about enemy movements and plans targeting El Fasher in the coming days.
Witnesses reportedly described the suffering of displaced people fleeing from Zamzam Camp to areas west of El Fasher, including hunger, thirst, beatings, and humiliation, along with cases of rape, mistreatment of the elderly, and pressure to provide information about the city.
The division affirmed that the situation is under control and that the forces are operating with full coordination and harmony on the battlefield, declaring that El Fasher will remain steadfast and that victory over the enemy is assured, God willing.
