Gedaref: The State Government Affirms Its Support for the Success of the 2025–2026 Agricultural Season

Azeldin Fagiri, Deputy Director General of the Agricultural Bank of Sudan, announced that procedures for agricultural financing for the upcoming season will begin in early May for all farmers who meet the bank’s requirements at all branches in the state. Speaking at the opening session of the workshop on agricultural season challenges, he stated that financing will also include other farmers. Fagiri praised the role of farmers across Sudan in ensuring food security despite the ongoing war, affirming the bank’s readiness to provide all necessary support to ensure the success of the current agricultural season.
Gedarif State Governor, Lieutenant General Mohammed Ahmed Hassan, commended the state’s farmers for their significant role in achieving food security and cultivating all agricultural areas despite the difficult security conditions at the time. He stressed the importance of the workshop in forming a clear vision for a successful season and ensuring the availability of all necessary inputs. The governor also praised the organizations that continue to support small-scale farmers in the state, calling on the Agricultural Bank to increase support for women’s cooperative societies. He also urged farmers to fulfill their financial commitments to the bank and repay loans, while asking the bank to consider the circumstances of insolvent farmers to allow them to participate in the upcoming agricultural season.
Dr. Ammar Abdullah Suleiman, Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources, stated that all departments of the ministry are actively preparing in the field for the current agricultural season. He confirmed that all technical and administrative arrangements have been made to ensure the season’s success and to combat agricultural pests. He shared optimistic forecasts of a successful season with excellent rainfall levels, according to meteorological reports. He added that the workshop will discuss several working papers focused on ensuring the success of the agricultural season.
