Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, met on Tuesday with the Chinese Ambassador to Sudan, Zhang Xianghua.
Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Idris Ismail, stated that the meeting focused on enhancing and developing bilateral relations between the two countries, particularly in the field of oil extraction, following the arrival of South Sudan’s oil at Bashayer Port. He added that the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council delivered a message to the Chinese President through the ambassador on this matter.
The Acting Undersecretary noted that the Chinese ambassador praised the government’s efforts to achieve peace, stability, and end the war.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador said the meeting addressed aspects of joint cooperation and ways to activate, deepen, and strengthen it across various fields, in addition to discussing the implementation of the outcomes of the Beijing Summit of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation, which was held last year with the participation of the Sovereignty Council Chairman. He pointed out the ongoing coordination between the relevant ministries in Sudan to implement those outcomes.
Zhang Xianghua stated that Sudan has made significant progress in security, stability, and peace, noting that his country appreciates these earnest efforts to achieve development and peace.
