The Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia has continued its systematic targeting of civilians in El Fasher, openly defying UN resolutions and condemnations. On Tuesday, the militia shelled all neighborhoods of El Fasher with dozens of heavy howitzer and mortar shells throughout the day, resulting in the death of 23 civilians and the injury of 10 others, who were transported to medical centers for treatment.
On the military front, the 6th Infantry Division reported that the Sudanese Armed Forces managed to block a militia convoy attempting to escape through the village of Tabladiya, north of El Fasher. Fierce clashes erupted, leading to the deaths of dozens of militia members and the destruction of three four-wheel-drive Land Cruiser vehicles. The remaining militia members fled west of El Fasher.
The 6th Division stated that El Fasher’s combat zones witnessed waves of mass desertion among the militia due to continued pressure from the armed forces, the joint forces, police, intelligence units, volunteers, and the popular resistance. Raiding teams are actively clearing militia hideouts.
The division confirmed that the armed forces have made significant advances on all fronts and captured new sites previously used by the militia as artillery platforms, maintaining high morale and confidence in victory.
In its press briefing, the division announced that 23 civilians, including women and children, were killed and 10 others injured due to the militia’s shelling of the city.
The division also refuted militia claims of controlling 90% of El Fasher, labeling them as lies and fabrications, stating that the RSF doesn’t even control 9% of the city.
It clarified that the widely circulated videos are outdated and were filmed in the streets of Khartoum, not El Fasher. It added that El Fasher’s streets are characterized by trees like Heglig, Sial, and Haraz, not Khartoum’s palm trees. The division warned citizens not to be misled by these rumors or to flee the city.
It reiterated that forces in El Fasher are fully in control of the situation and working like a hive to ensure the city’s resilience, assuring residents that victory is near.
