66 Victims of Landmine and War Debris Explosions

The Sudanese National Mine Action Center announced 40 incidents involving explosions caused by landmines or war remnants, resulting in 16 deaths and 50 injuries across various parts of the country since last April.
According to Sudan Tribune, Director General Major General Khaled Hamdan stated that 66 individuals were affected in 40 recorded incidents, with fatalities and injuries reported in Khartoum, Hajar Al-Asal (River Nile State), Al-Jazira, and Sennar.
He revealed that over 12,000 shells and 53,000 rounds of small arms ammunition have been detonated since last April.
Hamdan expected that there are more unreported incidents due to the widespread presence of landmines and war remnants.
Work is ongoing, with over 3,000 shells collected and more being gathered daily for future detonation.
Some unexplored areas may still contain hidden mines. Teams from the National Center, alongside army engineering corps units, are actively engaged in clearance operations.
Mines have already been cleared in parts of Al-Jazira, Sennar, Bahri (Khartoum), Karari, and Omdurman.
Efforts continue in East Nile, Khartoum, Jebel Aulia, and the northern parts of Omdurman (Al-Salha and Umbadda), in addition to White Nile and North Kordofan states.
