Comprehensive Plan to Combat Gold Smuggling

The Director-General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company, Mohamed Tahir Omar, emphasized the importance of coordination between national institutions and security agencies to combat smuggling operations and protect the country’s mineral wealth.
During his visit to the General Administration of Customs Forces, Mohamed Tahir discussed with the Customs Director ways to effectively combat gold smuggling and confirmed full support for the customs forces to carry out their role in monitoring the precious metal.
For his part, the Customs Director, Police Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, revealed a comprehensive plan that includes monitoring the country’s border crossings and checkpoints using drones and modern devices. He affirmed the customs forces’ capability to thwart smuggling and tax evasion operations and praised the visit of the Director-General of the Sudanese Mineral Resources Company and the strong coordination between the two bodies.
