Increasing Power Outages in Kassala and Gedaref

The Sudanese Electricity Company announced that the significant decline in water levels at the Atbara and Setit dams’ power station has led to a reduction in generated power, resulting in increased hours of power cuts in the states of Kassala and Gedaref, which currently rely solely on this source.

In a statement, the company affirmed its prioritization of critical facilities, such as hospitals and water stations, for electricity supply.

The company explained that its technical teams are working on solutions to boost supply, noting that military operations in some areas and extensive damage to the network have severely hindered maintenance and rehabilitation efforts.

Meanwhile, the company praised the efforts of workers in the electricity sector and the patience and understanding of citizens toward the exceptional circumstances. It called on citizens to remain patient and to disregard malicious rumors, renewing its thanks to all those affected by power outages or weakened supply for their understanding of the current situation.
