Kane Criticizes “Crazy Decision” That Will Deprive Him of “Coronation Day”

Harry Kane launched a scathing attack on a refereeing decision he described as “crazy,” after it was confirmed he would miss Bayern Munich’s upcoming match against RB Leipzig — a game that could see the team officially crowned Bundesliga champions.
According to The Athletic, Kane received a yellow card in the 45th minute of Bayern’s 3-0 victory over Mainz. It was his fifth yellow card of the season, which automatically results in a one-match suspension.
The yellow card was issued after referee Bastian Dankert awarded Mainz a free kick, and Kane delayed the restart by not releasing the ball quickly, prompting the referee to brandish the yellow card. Kane described the decision as “crazy, truly crazy,” lamenting that it could deny him the chance to be on the pitch for Bayern’s potential title celebration at the Red Bull Arena next week.
Speaking to reporters after the match, Kane said: “Unfortunately, sometimes people come to the Allianz Arena and try to make a name for themselves. The referee couldn’t wait to show me the yellow card.”
The English star — who has yet to win a major trophy in his career — also criticized the card accumulation system used in German football. In the English Premier League, yellow card tallies are reset at specific points during the season, but in the Bundesliga, cards accumulate throughout the entire campaign without any reset.
Kane explained: “That’s why I’m so frustrated about the booking. I knew I was on four yellow cards, yet I still picked up a fifth. Beyond that, I think the system itself is crazy — five yellow cards across 34 matches leading to a suspension! It just doesn’t make sense.”
