Northern State Governor Reviews Work Progress and Performance in Economic Sector Ministries

The Governor of the Northern State, Major General (Ret.) Abdul Rahman Abdul Hamid, reviewed today the progress of work and performance in the economic sector ministries during his meeting with the Directors of the Ministries of Finance and Manpower, Investment, Production and Economic Resources, and Infrastructure and Urban Development.
The meeting also discussed the state’s preparations for the governor’s upcoming visit to the administrative capital, Port Sudan, where he will follow up on several vital files related to the state.
Engineer Mohammed Sayed Ahmed Fagiri, Director-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Urban Development, stated to (SUNA) that the governor reviewed his ministry’s plans and key achievements over the past period, particularly the efforts to find solutions to the state’s electricity supply issues following the targeting of power stations by the Rapid Support Forces militia.
Fagiri pointed out that the governor also reviewed the emergency plan aimed at supplying drinking water stations with solar power units to address electricity outages. The plan targets 250 stations, with work currently underway at 50 stations, and 20 solar units already installed.
Additionally, the governor was briefed on the current status of national roads within the state, which are in urgent need of maintenance and rehabilitation to prevent further damage caused by last year’s floods and rains. The briefing also covered the ministry’s efforts to implement a geological survey project for minerals.
