Reopening of the Savings Bank Branch in Wad Madani to Support Reconstruction Efforts

During his address at the reopening ceremony of the Savings and Social Development Bank branch in Wad Madani this morning, Mr. Murtada Al-Bili, Secretary-General of the Al-Jazirah State Government and representative of the governor, called for a focus on financing small-scale farmers, small industries, workers, reconstruction and development projects, and normalization efforts.
The ceremony was attended by members of the State Security Committee, the Deputy Head of the Judicial Authority, the Directors-General of the Ministries of Finance and Social Welfare, and a representative from the Gezira Project.
Al-Bili highlighted the widespread presence of the Savings Bank, with 67 branches and agencies across Sudan. He announced that the coming period would witness a currency replacement process in the state, urging everyone to cooperate to ensure its success as part of the “Dignity Battle.”
He stressed that the current phase is one of rebuilding, reconstruction, and production, which requires strong will and trust in God, and then in the armed forces and regular forces. He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to serving citizens, describing them as the cornerstone of development, and emphasized the continuation of efforts to provide health, education, cultural, and social services.
Meanwhile, Mr. Adel Omar, Manager of the Savings Bank branch in Wad Madani, announced the reopening of the branch to resume offering full banking services to citizens and contribute to reconstruction efforts and support the state government’s endeavors in rehabilitating infrastructure and addressing the impacts of war.
In the same context, Mr. Magdy Al-Bakhit, Manager of the Sudan Central Bank branch in the state, confirmed that the environment is now conducive for launching a unified banking portfolio aimed at rebuilding what was destroyed by the war. He called on bank administrations to expedite the reopening of all branches across the state.
In his turn, Major General Al-Rukn Al-Bahi Mirghani, Commander of the First Infantry Division, stated that Al-Jazirah State has recovered, and normal life has been fully restored.
Dr. Ali Khalifa, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance in the state, affirmed that the return of banks and financial institutions will contribute to implementing the current year’s budget and providing services to citizens. He noted that the government had mandated all employees to open bank accounts to facilitate financial operations and praised the role of banks and financial institutions in implementing developmental and service projects across the state.
