Al-Burhan and Sisi Agree to Intensify Efforts to Provide Support to Sudanese

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi welcomed Sudan’s Sovereign Council Chairman, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, in Cairo on Monday.

The Egyptian presidential spokesperson stated that Sisi and Al-Burhan would discuss “enhancing bilateral cooperation, supporting efforts to restore stability and development in Sudan, and consulting on several regional issues.”

Earlier, the Sudanese Sovereign Council announced that Al-Burhan had arrived in Cairo for a one-day visit, during which discussions would focus on bilateral relations, as well as regional and international developments.

Al-Burhan had previously met with Sisi during the Global Civilizational Forum held in Cairo last November.

At that time, Al-Burhan confirmed that both the army and the people were determined to preserve the state and its institutions and to defeat the “Rapid Support Forces.” He expressed his hopes to “work towards preparing for the reconstruction of Sudan’s sectors in the post-war phase, which will begin soon.”

He also expressed his anticipation for “an active role from brotherly and friendly countries in the development of urban communities in the post-war phase.”
