Press Statement
Once again, the Janjaweed militias confirm their criminal and terrorist nature, and that the war they are waging on behalf of their regional sponsor is directed against the Sudanese people and the Sudanese state.
This is evident in the new terrorist crime committed by the militias, which shook the human conscience by executing more than 31 unarmed civilians in cold blood yesterday south of Omdurman city. The militia even boasted about it and, through a spokesperson living in a European capital, threatened to commit more similar crimes, targeting specific Sudanese communities, and killing all captives and abductees, most of whom are civilians.
This heinous crime, along with the rhetoric from the militia that reflects its utter disregard for humanitarian values, leaves no justification for failing to classify the militia as a terrorist group and to consider its regional sponsor as a state sponsor of terrorism, violating international laws and norms. It also calls for actions to deter them from fueling conflicts and massacres in the region.
