Finance Ministry Takes Major Step on Drinking Water in Northern State

The Ministry of Finance has begun funding the second phase of converting drinking water stations in the Northern State from electricity to solar power following the completion of the first phase.

Dr. Mohamed Bashar, Undersecretary of Planning at the Ministry, revealed during his meeting with Lieutenant General Abdel Rahman Abdel Hamid, Governor of the Northern State, at the government complex that the first phase had been completed by funding the solar-powered operation of 50 drinking water stations in the state. The ministry has now started funding the cost of converting another 50 stations in the second phase.

The Undersecretary pledged to meet the urgent request submitted by the Governor to fund the conversion of healthcare facilities — including intensive care and pediatric units — to solar power, after their services were halted due to militia attacks on the state’s electricity supply sources.
