Nico Williams: We’ll Beat Manchester United to Reach Europa League Final
Athletic Bilbao winger Nico Williams said his team will give everything to beat England’s Manchester United and reach the final of the UEFA Europa League.
Williams and his teammates dream of qualifying for the final, which will be held at their home ground, San Mamés, on May 21.
He revealed that the team has followed the advice of his brother and teammate Iñaki throughout this European campaign, saying: “From the beginning, we’ve played with humility… My brother said it last year: stay humble.”
He added: “I understand the fans’ excitement, but we need to be 100 percent focused on the match and on getting the job done. We’ll give it our all to reach the final at San Mamés.”
Athletic Bilbao, currently fourth in La Liga, will host United on Thursday in the first leg of the semi-final at San Mamés, before the return leg at Old Trafford next week.
Williams didn’t hide his excitement about facing United, despite the Red Devils’ disastrous Premier League campaign this season.
