United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres expressed his concern over the escalating catastrophic situation in North Darfur State, where deadly attacks continue on its capital, El Fasher.
Guterres confirmed that the UN and its humanitarian partners are doing their utmost to scale up emergency support in the Tawila area of North Darfur, which is hosting most of the displaced people from Zamzam. He noted that the humanitarian needs are “immense,” with reports of “desperate” people—mostly women and children—crossing the border into Chad in search of safety and assistance.
