Sudan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Al-Harith Idris Al-Harith, stated that the letter submitted by the Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations, dated April 29, 2025, is full of fundamental inaccuracies and represents failed attempts to shirk international responsibility.
In his response letter to the President of the UN Security Council, Ambassador Al-Harith emphasized that the Emirati envoy’s conduct and positions have become fully aligned with the orientations and stances of the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which is supported by the UAE. He pointed to the grave violations and crimes committed by the terrorist militia.
He added, “The UAE representative has consistently violated the norms and etiquette of recognized diplomatic discourse by repeatedly referring to Sudan’s Permanent Representative as a representative of the Sudanese Army — a clear violation of Article (2)-1 of the UN Charter, which affirms the principle of sovereign equality among all member states.” He continued, “For the record, the Sudanese army, which the UAE envoy disparages, played a pivotal role in the establishment of the UAE Armed Forces.”
Ambassador Al-Harith refuted the claims made in the Emirati envoy’s letter by citing international reports and documents, as well as credible journalistic and investigative reports by reputable international media outlets, all of which demonstrate the UAE’s direct involvement in fueling the armed conflict in Sudan through the supply of weapons and military equipment to the RSF militia.
Al-Harith also addressed the claim made by the Emirati envoy that the final report of the Panel of Experts contained no condemnation of the UAE, asserting that this claim is inaccurate. He noted that the report did not achieve consensus among the panel members, as not all five experts signed it — a clear violation of the Panel’s procedural rules. The report was also subject to substantive objections by several members of the Security Council within the Sanctions Committee itself.
