The Ministry of Energy and Oil has revealed new details regarding the series of terrorist operations that have targeted the administrative capital, Port Sudan, since Sunday. On Tuesday, the depots belonging to fuel distribution companies in Port Sudan were attacked, even before the flames from Monday’s attack on the ministry’s strategic fuel depots had been extinguished.
The ministry confirmed that the depots of Oil Energy and Nile Petroleum Company Ltd. were hit by projectiles, causing fires in an area densely packed with fuel tanks. This, the ministry stated, clearly indicates the enemy’s deliberate intent to inflict massive destruction in the area. Firefighting operations are currently underway by the Civil Defense Police to contain the blaze and prevent a potential disaster in this central part of the city.
The ministry reassured citizens that fuel supplies are continuing as normal and stressed that there is no need for concern, as it has contingency plans and alternatives to avoid any fuel crisis in Sudan. It also affirmed the Sudanese people’s ability to rebuild and restore what the militias and their allies have destroyed, as quickly as possible.
