Sudan Cuts Diplomatic Ties with UAE

Sudan Events – Reports

On Tuesday, Sudan announced it had severed diplomatic relations with the United Arab Emirates, deciding to withdraw its embassy and consulate. It also officially declared the UAE an aggressor state.

In a statement issued Tuesday, the Sudanese Security and Defense Council said the entire world has witnessed, for over two years, the crime of aggression against Sudan’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and the safety of its citizens, committed by the United Arab Emirates through its local proxy, the terrorist and rebellious Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia and its political backers.

The statement continued: “When the UAE realized the defeat of its local proxy—driven back by our armed forces, the legitimate institution tasked with defending the nation and preserving its resources—it escalated its support, deploying more of its capabilities to supply the rebels with advanced strategic weapons. These weapons have been used to target vital and civilian infrastructure across the country, most recently oil and gas depots, the port and airport of Port Sudan, power stations, and hotels, endangering the lives and property of millions of civilians. This constitutes a threat to regional and international security, especially the security of the Red Sea.”

It added: “In accordance with the letter and spirit of Article 51 of the UN Charter, which grants states the right to self-defense, Sudan reserves the right to respond to this aggression by all means necessary to preserve its sovereignty and territorial integrity, ensure the protection of civilians, and guarantee the continued delivery of humanitarian aid.”

The council praised the efforts of the Sudanese people, armed forces, police, security, joint forces, and the popular resistance, and assured the Sudanese nation that the state is capable of deterring aggression and maintaining national security.
