The Ministry of Foreign Affairs affirmed Sudan’s ability to confront the external terrorist aggression led by the United Arab Emirates.
In a statement on Tuesday, the ministry said that over the past 72 hours, Port Sudan had been subjected to a series of terrorist attacks targeting key civilian facilities, including the civilian airport, strategic fuel depots, part of Bashayer Port, and a hotel hosting diplomats and foreign guests.
The ministry noted that Port Sudan is a vital hub for humanitarian operations, the base for diplomatic missions and UN organizations, the country’s primary seaport, and home to its second-largest international airport.
It added that strategic drones and advanced weaponry—only available to specific states—were used in the attacks. The relevant authorities have documented information regarding the types and sources of these weapons, which will be announced at the appropriate time.
These terrorist attacks, the statement said, constitute a full-fledged act of aggression, explicit international terrorism, and an extension of a scheme to destroy the Sudanese state.
The ministry further stated that the sponsors of the terrorist militias, by resorting to direct intervention in the war and using overtly terrorist tactics, are expressing despair and acknowledging the failure of their proxy war through the terrorist militia.
Sudan, the statement concluded, is capable of confronting this external terrorist aggression led by the UAE and of overcoming the damage caused by the attacks.
It added: “The Sudanese people, under the leadership of their armed forces and supporting forces, have triumphed over the largest foreign invasion in the country’s history, despite it being backed by the most advanced weapons, mercenaries, and agents from across the globe.”
Finally, the ministry stated that Sudan retains the right to defend itself and its people by all means and called on the United Nations Security Council, the African Union, the Arab League, and all members of the international community to fulfill their responsibilities in confronting this international terrorism and grave threat to regional and global security.
