The Minister of Interior, Police General Khalil Pasha Sayrin, emphasized the need to expedite the deportation of undocumented foreigners and refugees from Khartoum State to their home countries or to designated camps prior to the deportation process.
He stressed the importance of full compliance with national laws and international agreements governing the presence of documented foreigners and refugees.
On Monday, the Minister of Interior met in his office in Khartoum with Al-Sadiq Suleiman Yaqoub, the Assistant Commissioner for Khartoum and the Northern States, in the presence of Tobias Lumba Gabriel, Director of the UNHCR office in Khartoum.
The Minister stated that the law grants the right to immediately deport any refugee or foreigner who has collaborated with the rebel militias in the war against the state. He called on the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and other relevant bodies to provide the necessary support in the refugee camps.
The Assistant Commissioner for Khartoum and the Northern States noted that the Minister received a comprehensive briefing on the implementation status of decisions related to the regularization of refugee situations in Khartoum State. These include the establishment of a collection point and a camp for South Sudanese refugees pending the final resolution of their status, as well as the transfer of refugees from neighboring countries to Kassala and Gedaref states. He also reviewed the arrangements for implementing these decisions following the receipt of the budget allocated for deportation operations, in accordance with Article (8) of the 2014 Sudanese Asylum Law, with the goal of transforming Khartoum into a civilized capital free of undocumented foreigners and refugees.
