Minister of Irrigation: Jebel Aulia Dam Operating Properly

Minister of Irrigation and Natural Resources, Engineer Daw Al-Bait Abdulrahman, confirmed that the Jebel Aulia Dam is operating properly. During his visit on Monday—his first since the dam’s liberation from the Rapid Support Forces militia—he emphasized his ministry’s commitment to repairing all affected parts of the dam and providing the necessary equipment to clear the entrances of vehicles piled up around the site. He also called on the dam’s staff to coordinate their efforts with the regular forces stationed there.

The minister congratulated the workers on the return of security and stability, as well as the resumption of routine operations to discharge water from the dam’s reservoir. He inspected the systematic destruction inflicted upon the dam, the administrative offices, employee housing, and the main guesthouse.

He expressed pride in the dam workers for their patriotic role in protecting and operating the dam, as well as repairing the damaged gates immediately after its liberation.

For his part, the Director of Jebel Aulia Dam, Engineer Sami Salim Adam, revealed that the dam had suffered extensive, deliberate destruction by the rebel militia. He highlighted the great efforts of 16 engineers and workers who, since April 12, have managed to operate 43 out of 50 dam gates. Work is ongoing to rehabilitate the remaining gates and continue the water discharge program. He affirmed the determination of the workers and engineers to restore and operate all parts of the dam damaged by the terrorist militia.

Mechanical Engineer Abdel Nasser Khalid Abdel Jabbar, part of the emergency team, stated: “We overcame all challenges to operate the dam and have begun the discharge and gate repair program.”
