Minister of Trade Visits Southern Port Customs

Minister of Trade and Supply, Omar Ahmed Mohamed Ali Banfeer, accompanied by Police Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim, Director General of the Customs Forces, paid an inspection visit to the Southern Port Customs Directorate in the Red Sea State.

They were received by Police Major General Amir Al-Zein Al-Abideen Omar, Director of the Red Sea State General Customs Administration; Police Brigadier Dr. Mujahid Al-Sheikh Al-Fadni, Director of Media and Public Relations; and Police Brigadier Bakheet Hassan Bakheet, Director of the Southern Port Customs Directorate.

Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim welcomed the minister and praised the importance of the Southern Port Customs Directorate, which significantly contributes to Red Sea Customs revenues. He emphasized the customs’ readiness to coordinate fully with all relevant authorities, noting that customs are working to simplify procedures and provide facilities to importers and customs brokers, despite current challenges.

For his part, Major General Amir Al-Zein Al-Abideen Omar stated that the Red Sea Customs Administration has provided all necessary facilities to ensure the smooth flow of trade, including extending working hours to include Saturdays. He noted that some goods are being processed through direct delivery and on-site inspection according to regulations.

Brigadier Bakheet Hassan Bakheet, Director of Southern Port Customs, explained that customs clearance operations are proceeding smoothly and that clearance pledges are being accepted in accordance with the authorities granted to customs to cope with the current exceptional circumstances.

Minister Omar Ahmed Mohamed Ali Banfeer expressed his gratitude to the Customs Forces for their warm welcome and appreciated their crucial role in facilitating trade movement. He affirmed that the Ministry of Trade and Supply and the Customs Forces are working together to ensure the flow of essential goods, adding that they have full confidence in the Customs Forces and called for further coordination with work partners in the service of the nation.

Separately, Lieutenant General Salah Ahmed Ibrahim conducted an inspection visit to the Port Sudan Airport Customs Directorate to observe operations and ensure the smooth flow of passengers and goods through the airport. He was received by Major General Amir Al-Zein Al-Abideen Omar, Brigadier Dr. Mujahid Al-Sheikh Al-Fadni, and Brigadier Khalid Othman Al-Faki, Director of Port Sudan Airport Customs.
