Strict Conditions for Flights Heading to Port Sudan Airport

The aviation platform “Sada Al-Tayaran” tweeted that international insurance companies are imposing a set of strict conditions on flights heading to Port Sudan International Airport.

The conditions include requiring aircraft to remain on the ground for 120 minutes, specifying restricted time slots for flights, and mandating special security escorts for each aircraft.

These measures come as Sudan is classified as a high-risk security zone, amid international reports of potential threats to air navigation, as well as inadequate airport security infrastructure. Additionally, technical considerations such as allowing enough time to inspect and refuel aircraft have also influenced these decisions.
