Infantino: Saudi Arabia Is Doing an Exceptional Job Developing Women’s Football

Gianni Infantino, President of the International Federation of Association Football (FIFA), said on Tuesday at the 2025 Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh that FIFA aims to generate $1 billion in revenue from the Women’s World Cup.

The 2023 Women’s World Cup, hosted by Australia and New Zealand, generated over $570 million in profit.

Infantino stated: “Women’s football and the participation of women in the sport are of critical importance. It is also growing significantly, and we aim to generate $1 billion in revenue through the Women’s World Cup alone to reinvest in women’s sports.”

Brazil will host the next edition of the Women’s World Cup in 2027, marking the first time the tournament will be held in South America.

The United States is close to securing the hosting rights for the 2031 edition, which will be expanded to include 48 teams instead of 32.

Infantino also said that football has enormous potential to generate more revenue outside of Europe.
