Minister of Industry Inspects Preparations to Resume Operations at Giad Industrial City

Mahaasin Ali Yaqoub, the Acting Minister of Industry, inspected the ongoing preparations for the reopening of Giad Industrial City following systematic sabotage by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, with estimated losses exceeding $150 million.

Currently, multiple technical and engineering teams are carrying out rehabilitation and restoration operations in preparation for resuming operations in the city after the area was fully secured and liberated.

The minister emphasized the importance of reviving industrial activity as one of the main pillars in the country’s post-war reconstruction and development efforts. She noted that Giad Group and other national factories bear great responsibilities in the post-conflict phase.

Mahaasin stressed the ministry’s commitment to efficiently restoring the industrial sector and reaffirmed the government’s determination to address the challenges facing this vital sector. She called for national efforts to overcome the crisis and move toward a more stable and prosperous future.

For his part, Eng. Ibrahim Abkar, Acting CEO of Giad Industrial Group, reviewed the group’s history and the extent of the targeted attacks it had endured. He highlighted the group’s pivotal role in achieving sustainable development and localizing vital industries, noting that the group’s upcoming strategy focuses on restoring industrial activity using the latest future technologies.

Mr. Omar Mohamed Al-Majzoub, Director of Giad Holding Company, revealed the extent of the destruction caused by the deliberate attacks from the rebel militia. He stated that the damage is estimated at around $150 million, including approximately $25 million in losses to the city’s power station and its facilities.
