SDG 11.2 Billion: Zakat Chamber Budget for Gezira State in 2025

The Board of Trustees of the Zakat Chamber in Gezira State approved the 2024 performance report during its first session of 2025, held last night and chaired by the State Governor, Mr. Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair.
The report revealed that the collection performance for 2024 reached 54%, with SDG 7.5 billion collected out of a projected SDG 14 billion.
The board also reviewed the performance of the first quarter of the current year, praising the Zakat Chamber’s interventions in supporting the state’s citizens, its contribution to the war effort, and its response to the humanitarian and economic challenges caused by the war.
The chairman of the board called for increased efforts to support producers, farmers, the poor, and the needy, in order to enhance Zakat’s role in easing the cost of living.
For his part, Mr. Issam Al-Din Musa Dafallah, Secretary of the Zakat Chamber in the state, presented the proposed 2025 general budget, estimated at about SDG 11.2 billion. He indicated that the budget aims to alleviate poverty and its consequences, and to direct spending in a way that promotes justice and social solidarity, while reaffirming the state’s authority over Zakat.
He explained that the chamber is working on digitizing the distribution of Zakat according to Islamic law, updating poverty records, and reviewing health insurance lists to ensure that support reaches the most vulnerable groups through the Zakat committees spread throughout the state.
