
The United Nations has warned that the situation in Sudan remains horrific and deeply concerning, stating that humanitarian needs continue to grow amid ongoing conflict and displacement.
UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric reiterated in a press briefing the call for all parties to immediately cease hostilities and fulfill their obligations under international humanitarian law to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure, and to ensure safe, sustained, and unimpeded humanitarian access to those in need.
He also urged the international community to intensify support for the humanitarian response in Sudan to prevent further loss of life and avoid worsening the catastrophe.
