Understandings Between Sudan and Iran in the Field of Livestock

The Sudanese Minister of Animal Resources, Mawlana Mohamed Haroun Mohamed Adam, received today the Iranian Ambassador to Sudan, His Excellency Hossein Shah Hosseini, at his office in Port Sudan.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed ways of mutual cooperation in the field of livestock and the exchange of expertise between the two countries. They also explored ways to enhance bilateral cooperation in the livestock and fisheries sectors, reviewed opportunities for Iranian investment in Sudan’s livestock sector, and considered exchanging technical and technological expertise as well as increasing trade in animal products.
The discussions also touched on technical and veterinary cooperation and the importance of transferring Iranian expertise in veterinary care, vaccine development, and veterinary medicines.
During the meeting, the Iranian side proposed offering training courses for Sudanese personnel in the fields of vaccine development, livestock breeding, and animal disease prevention.
The Minister of Animal Resources outlined the available investment opportunities in Sudan, especially in meat and fodder processing, establishing modern slaughterhouses, and investment in fish and poultry production. The Iranian side expressed interest in investing in joint projects for the export of meat, fish, and dairy products.
The Iranian Ambassador pointed to the potential for cooperation in the area of food security by supporting Sudan as a country with vast livestock resources and working toward signing trade agreements to facilitate the movement of exports and imports between the two countries, as well as establishing a specialized company to invest in the livestock sector.
During the meeting, it was agreed to form a joint committee to prepare for investment opportunities, follow up on the implementation of cooperation terms, coordinate the organization of workshops and training activities between experts from both countries, and consider signing a memorandum of understanding to enhance cooperation in the field of animal resources.
The meeting also called for encouraging trade in animal products such as red meat, and benefiting from hides and processing byproducts. Both sides expressed optimism about the future of cooperation between Sudan and Iran in the livestock sector and agreed to form a joint committee to follow up on the recommendations in order to achieve tangible results that would benefit the economies of both countries.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the Iranian Ambassador extended an invitation to the Sudanese Minister of Animal Resources to visit the Islamic Republic of Iran to observe Iran’s experience in the field of livestock.
