Gedaref Plans Cotton Cultivation Expansion

The Government of Gedaref State has announced its intention to expand the establishment of cotton ginning factories by offering companies full incentives and necessary exemptions. This move comes in response to the ongoing expansion and high production of rain-fed cotton in the region.
During his visit today to the Al-Alamiya Cotton Ginning Factory in the Al-Hamra area of Eastern Gallabat Locality, Governor of Gedaref, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan, along with several officials, praised the technological and qualitative leap the factory represents. He stated that the factory’s strategic location amid agricultural fields will significantly contribute to processing the cotton cultivated across the state. He also commended the factory’s role in providing job opportunities for a large number of youth and noted that its presence in the area would encourage farmers to further expand cotton cultivation.
Mr. Asim Al-Balak, representative of Al-Alamiya Cotton Company, affirmed the factory’s readiness to process all the cotton from the southern region, support farmers through technical guidance and agricultural assistance, and facilitate marketing operations. He also announced plans to expand the factory by adding a second saw gin line alongside the existing roller gin line, revealing its production capacity of 750 kantars per shift.
