349,000 Sacks of Wheat Harvested in Halfa Al-Jadida Winter Season

The Halfa Al-Jadida Agricultural Authority has completed the wheat harvest for the 2024–2025 winter season. The total production reached 349,000 sacks of wheat, each weighing 100 kilograms.
Engineer Mohamed Al-Hadi Mohamed, Director of the Field Management Department, told SUNA that 48,645 feddans were harvested out of a total cultivated area of 50,960 feddans. The remaining 2,315 feddans were left unharvested due to heat stress and high weed density.
He added that the average yield per feddan was 8 sacks, while the demonstration plots recorded an average of 14.4 sacks per feddan over an area of 60 feddans. The area cultivated using certified seeds (12,945 feddans) achieved an average of 12 sacks per feddan.
Engineer Al-Hadi stated that the farmers’ debt to the authority amounts to 200,000 sacks, of which 90,000 have been repaid in-kind, with the remainder to be paid in cash.
He also noted that sunflower harvesting is ongoing in the 5,000 feddans planted this season, with over 300 feddans already harvested.
The average sunflower yield per feddan was 1.1 tons, and the total revenue reached 1.6 million Sudanese pounds.
Engineer Al-Hadi revealed that the proposed cultivation area for the 2025–2026 summer season is 187,150 feddans, including 41,000 for peanuts, 30,300 for cotton, 58,100 for sorghum, and 70,750 for lentils.
