Sudan Participates in Brazil–Africa Dialogue on Food Security

The second Brazil–Africa dialogue on food security, hunger eradication, and rural development was launched in the Brazilian capital, Brasília, with the participation of 44 African countries at the level of agriculture ministers. This came at the beginning of the launch of the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
In the opening session, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva stated that the dialogue aims to exchange experiences, raise awareness, and confront the reality of nearly 730 million people suffering from hunger worldwide, while the world spends $2.4 trillion on weapons, escalating conflicts across the globe. He added that Brazil has a historical debt to Africa that cannot be repaid in cash, but can be shared through technical support and technology transfer to boost production. He pointed out that the colonial legacy aimed to disable African capabilities and prevent the continent from utilizing its resources.
It is noteworthy that the Sudanese delegation was headed by Ambassador Dr. Ahmed Al-Tijani Suwar, the acting chargé d’affaires, who affirmed that Sudan is in a phase of recovery and will contribute to global food security due to its agricultural potential and strategic location, which plays an influential role in commercial movement.
