Minister of Industry Participates in the Fifth Qatar Economic Forum

The Industry Minister Mahaasin Ali Yaqoub, attended participated in the Fifth Qatar Economic Forum, held in the Qatari capital, Doha, from May 20–22, 2025. The forum brought together a number of ministers, decision-makers, economists, and companies from around the world.

This participation comes as part of Sudan’s efforts to strengthen economic and investment relations with the State of Qatar and engage with regional and international initiatives that support the country’s reconstruction efforts—especially the rehabilitation of the industrial sector amid the extraordinary challenges caused by the war.

The Minister took part in the forum’s sessions and held a series of important meetings on the sidelines. Notably, she met with His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Thani bin Faisal Al Thani, Qatar’s Minister of Commerce and Industry. The meeting discussed ways to enhance industrial cooperation between the two countries and encourage Qatari investment in Sudan’s industrial sector, particularly in manufacturing, food, and pharmaceutical industries.

She also met with His Excellency Mr. Fahd bin Hamad Al-Sulaiti, Director General of the Qatar Fund for Development. The meeting explored opportunities for cooperation to support small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Sudan. Mr. Al-Sulaiti expressed the Fund’s readiness to support SMEs, a step that could contribute to creating jobs for youth and women and enhance social stability in Sudan.

The Minister of Industry affirmed that these meetings reflect the deep fraternal relations between Sudan and Qatar. She praised Qatar’s interest in supporting industrial development in Sudan and valued the outcomes of the meetings held during the forum, which could open new horizons for cooperation between the two nations.
