Large Quantities of Spoiled Cooking Oil Seized

The Sudanese Standards and Metrology Organization in White Nile State seized large quantities of spoiled and non-compliant cooking oil in Rabak city. The inspection campaign was carried out by the State Consumer Affairs Committee in collaboration with the Criminal Investigations Police.

The campaign led to the seizure of 111 jerrycans, each with an 18-liter capacity, filled with spoiled oil that did not meet Sudanese quality standards. The seized oils included a mix of rotten raw oils and repackaged one-liter bottles of refined sunflower oil, which were being emptied and refilled into the larger containers.

Legal actions were taken, and cases were filed against those involved in these violations.

Magdi Siddiq Al-Haj, Director of the Standards and Metrology Organization in the state, urged all traders to comply with technical specifications, especially regarding cooking oils. He confirmed the organization is working in coordination with the Consumer Affairs Committee and other relevant bodies to ensure the availability of safe and unexpired food products.

Lt. Col. Issam Jaafar Sir Al-Khatim, Director of Criminal Investigations in Rabak, praised the role of the police in carrying out these campaigns and stressed their continuation to curb violations, particularly under the exceptional circumstances caused by the ongoing war.
