Northern State Governor Discusses Support for Farmers with WFP Delegation

The Governor of Northern State, Lieutenant General Abdel Rahman Abdel Hamid, met today with a delegation from the World Food Programme (WFP), in the presence of the Humanitarian Aid Commissioner, Dr. Abdel Rahman Khairi, and the Acting Director General of the Ministry of Production, Engineer Yasser Mohamed Ali.

Engineer Yasser Mohamed Ali explained that the meeting reviewed the activities carried out by the WFP and its interventions in the state since 2022, as well as its future plans.

He added that the meeting addressed the WFP’s interventions in the agricultural sector, particularly the Emergency Wheat Project and support for farmers. The delegation provided the governor with an overview of the organization’s distribution of seeds and agricultural inputs, and discussed the challenges they are facing. He praised the cooperation and strong coordination between the WFP and the Ministry of Production.

For his part, David Badeshkoria, Deputy Director of the WFP Office for Northern and River Nile States, thanked the governor for welcoming the delegation. He said the meeting reviewed the organization’s projects aimed at helping the largest possible number of farmers, and highlighted other WFP initiatives, including humanitarian assistance for displaced persons and livelihood support projects.
