The government of Northern State announced on Wednesday its intention to confront the incursion of forces affiliated with Libyan General Khalifa Haftar into Sudanese territory, stressing that such actions “will not go unchallenged.”
In a statement, the Northern State Security Committee—headed by Governor Abdel Rahman Abdel Hamid—said, “The blatant intervention through the incursion of Haftar’s forces into Sudanese territory, supported by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), will not pass unnoticed, and we will confront it with all the strength we possess.”
The committee emphasized that the Sudanese Armed Forces and supporting forces “will stand as an impenetrable barrier against any targeting of Northern State, which will serve as the safety valve for Sudan.”
The statement affirmed that the Northern State government places “the security of the state and its citizens at the top of its priorities, and no voice will be louder than the voice of battle.” It also urged residents not to be swayed by RSF propaganda seeking a false victory to boost the morale of its collapsing forces.
It called on citizens to avoid any unrest or protests, which could serve the agendas of infiltrators and enemies of the nation who seek to exploit the circumstances imposed by the war.
