
The United Nations Security Council is scheduled to hold an open briefing on Sudan next Friday, followed by closed consultations, in accordance with Resolution 2715 issued on December 1, 2023.
Martha Ama Akyaa Pobee, Assistant Secretary-General for Africa in the Departments of Political and Peacebuilding Affairs and Peace Operations, is expected to deliver a briefing during the open session. Ambassador Joonkook Hwang, Chair of the Sudan Sanctions Committee, will also provide an update on the committee’s work.
Additionally, the UN Secretary-General’s Personal Envoy to Sudan, Ramtane Lamamra, is expected to brief the Council during the closed consultations.
