Sovereignty Council Member: The Sudanese People Are More United, and the World Is Watching Their Rise

Dr. Salma Abdel Jabbar Al-Mubarak, member of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, praised the advanced level of bilateral relations between Sudan and Egypt, especially during the war. She noted Egypt’s support—both governmental and popular—for the Sudanese people in their time of crisis, just as Sudan has supported Egypt in many international forums.

During her meeting on Sunday with the Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Sudan, Hani Salah, she said that the war had contributed to strengthening national cohesion and enhancing solidarity between the two countries. She described the relationship as historical and deeply rooted.

The Council member affirmed that the world is anticipating Sudan’s economic and social revival. She stated that the Sudanese people have become more united, aware, and cohesive, which enables them to achieve progress and development in a short period.

The meeting addressed a number of issues of mutual interest between the two countries, particularly in the social, economic, cultural, and religious spheres. It also tackled the current challenges facing the Gezira Project and emphasized the importance of its revival, given its significance to Sudan and the Arab world.

The discussions further covered various philosophical and religious topics, including Sufism, the role of Al-Azhar in Egypt, Sufi orders, and traditional leadership in Sudan, highlighting the importance of fostering community development. Dr. Salma commended Al-Azhar University’s contributions to education and upbringing as the second-largest university in the world, and its hosting of a large number of Sudanese students.

For his part, Egyptian Ambassador Hani Salah congratulated Dr. Salma on her renewed appointment to the Sovereignty Council, wishing her success. He affirmed Egypt’s unwavering support for the Sudanese people, noting that Sudan had previously stood with Egypt on many issues.

Ambassador Hani also stated that the Council member shared her vision for Sudan’s future in the upcoming phase, focused on promoting stability and sustainable development.
