China: Appointment of Civilian Prime Minister in Sudan Should Receive International Support

China’s representative to the United Nations Security Council expressed his country’s support for the political steps recently taken by Sudan. He described the appointment of a new Prime Minister and the initiation of forming a civilian cabinet as positive and important steps toward implementing the political roadmap agreed upon by the Sudanese people. He emphasized that these steps should receive international support to ensure their success and the achievement of the desired stability.

During a Security Council session, the Chinese envoy stressed that Sudan has the full and independent right to choose its own developmental path and institutional arrangements in a manner consistent with its national context and circumstances. He highlighted the importance of respecting this right by all international and regional parties, and of refraining from interfering in Sudan’s internal affairs, as this is essential to preserving Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity.

In a related context, the Chinese representative called on the international community to learn from history and avoid repeating past mistakes. He warned against imposing unrealistic standards and demands on Sudan or trying to enforce external solutions that do not align with Sudanese realities. He affirmed that effective solutions must stem from within Sudan and from the will of its people, stressing the importance of providing support and assistance without interfering in national affairs.
