The Security Committee of Khartoum State has approved a package of measures to tighten security. Police forces also cordoned off the Dar Al-Salam neighborhood in western Omdurman as part of a campaign that resulted in the seizure of weapons and the arrest of collaborators with the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The Security Committee, headed by the state’s governor, Ahmed Othman Hamza, held a meeting to discuss the enforcement of the ban on motorcycle riding in the state’s cities and the prosecution of violators, some of whom have received strict judicial sentences.
The committee emphasized that this decision is a key security measure to reduce lawlessness and security breaches.
It urged citizens to strictly comply with the curfew that begins at 11 PM and stressed the suspension of all public and private parties. It also called for adherence to the designated hours of movement on main roads and in markets across all localities of the state.
The committee also issued several decisions, including the establishment of a joint mobile force to enhance security and reduce crime in the localities of Khartoum and Jebel Awliya, aiming to combat negative phenomena and limit criminal activity.
The committee commended the security campaigns carried out in the areas of Al-Jaqab, Zaqlona, and several other locations in Omdurman locality, stating that they resulted in the seizure of large quantities of weapons and ammunition, as well as the arrest of RSF collaborators and known criminals, against whom legal actions were taken.
