Completion of the First Phase of the Abu Habl Agricultural Project Plan

On Sunday, the first phase of the Abu Habl Agricultural Project plan in North Kordofan was completed. This phase focused on the maintenance, rehabilitation, regulation, and filling of breaches in the Abu Habl stream in the areas of Al-Andarabah and west of the Abu Janzir Al-Rahad regulator, as well as the opening of the gates of the Al-Sumeih and Al-Rahad regulators to receive the stream’s water for this season.
According to the Sudan News Agency, the project’s Director General, Ahmed Hassan Al-Ameer, stated that the completion of the first phase ensures that water reaches reservoirs within the project and nearby villages for human and livestock consumption. It also allows water to flow into the Al-Rahad canal surface, the Green Al-Rahad Project, and enables irrigation work, in addition to providing water to the Al-Sumeih Agricultural Project and facilitating its irrigation activities. Moreover, the project secures the road linking North and South Kordofan (Al-Rahad – Jebel Al-Dair – South Kordofan), contributing to economic stability by helping farmers access their lands, as well as improving social and security conditions in the area.
He noted that the first phase was funded by the General Secretariat of the North Kordofan State Government and the Ministry of Engineering Affairs and Infrastructure, which also undertook the maintenance of machinery, alongside the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources and the Al-Rahad Abudakna locality.
He praised the armed forces and supporting units in Al-Rahad and southern areas for securing the work team during the execution period, which lasted more than twenty days.
