The Ministry of Health in North Darfur State confirmed that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia committed severe violations against the healthcare sector in the state, including the assassination of several medical personnel and workers while performing their duties.
Dr. Ibrahim Abdullah Khater, the state’s Director General of Health, told the Sudan News Agency that the rebel militia had executed a number of health workers in various hospitals across the state.
He pointed out that the violations included the destruction of critical healthcare infrastructure—which has been documented—as well as the looting of staff salaries. Additionally, the militia committed abuses against patient companions and hospital volunteers, and stole ambulances and solar energy systems from hospitals in different localities.
Khater reaffirmed their commitment to continuing the provision of health services despite the current challenges, praising the resilience and sacrifices of healthcare workers, and stressing that these violations demand accountability.
