Meeting Held on Reinstating the Railway Line in Gedaref

The Acting Governor of Gedaref, Lt. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Hassan Ahmed, received a delegation from the Sudan Railways Corporation headed by the Director General, Engineer Musa Al-Qawm Al-Juhadi.

The two sides held a joint meeting that addressed various issues related to the restoration of the railway line linking eastern, central, and western states through Gedaref.

Discussions included removing obstacles on Sixty Street in the city of Gedaref, land reservation allocations along both sides of the road, and other related matters.

The Governor affirmed his government’s full commitment to implementing any agreement reached by the joint technical committee between the state and the Corporation. He also called for the establishment of a new railway route to bypass Gedaref city and the construction of a modern passenger station outside the city. He emphasized the railway’s significance in connecting states and linking production areas to markets and export ports, thereby supporting the national economy.

The Director General of the Sudan Railways Corporation described the discussions with the Gedaref government as successful and fruitful, stating that a joint vision had been reached that would serve both the state and the Corporation.

He added that consultations via the joint technical committee would continue until a final agreement is signed by the Governor and the Director General.
