Kuwaiti Investment in Red Sea Tourism

On Monday, Red Sea State Governor, Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, oversaw the signing ceremony of a partnership agreement between the state government and the Kuwaiti United Real Estate Company to establish and operate the “Arous Tourist Resort” north of Port Sudan.

The project includes a world-class hotel and resort, aiming to meet the needs of the entertainment and tourism market and to encourage further investments in the sector. It is expected to contribute to the state’s development boom and create new job opportunities.

The signing ceremony took place at the Red Sea State Governor’s office, in the presence of Kuwait’s Ambassador to Sudan, Fahad Mishari Al-Dhafiri. Representing the Red Sea State Government was Mohamed Ali Kajer, Director-General of the Ministry of Finance, and signing on behalf of the Kuwaiti company was the company’s director, Mazen Issam.

Ahmed Mohamed Taher, Director-General of the Industry Sector in the Red Sea State, stated that the partnership with the Kuwaiti United Real Estate Company falls within the state’s efforts to operate the well-known “Arous” tourist resort and attract foreign investment.

He noted that the Kuwaiti side’s timely presence reflects its keenness to strengthen the deep-rooted Sudanese-Kuwaiti relations and encourage other investors to undertake similar ventures.

Taher added that this partnership confirms the depth of relations between the two countries and contributes to reconstruction efforts through investment. He expressed the state’s pleasure with this step, which will help develop tourism facilities and utilize the pristine coasts to attract more investment.

For his part, Mazen Issam, representing the Kuwaiti company, said they plan to develop a multi-use tourism project in Port Sudan, highlighting the strong Sudanese-Kuwaiti relations and the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

He explained that the company had previously begun planning to develop a tourism property in the Red Sea State, but the project was delayed for certain reasons. Now, the company is returning to strengthen its presence in its “second home” by launching a model project combining hospitality with other tourism components. The goal is to diversify income sources in Port Sudan, especially given the state’s rich natural attractions.

This partnership comes as part of ongoing efforts by the Red Sea State to promote investment and develop economic, social, and tourism resources, leveraging the region’s unique coastal location and beautiful blue beaches to become an attractive investment destination regionally and internationally.
